All right now we get to the really advanced classes. These classes will challenge even the most advanced kid. Build a ComputerYour child is a wiz at using a computer, but does he know what makes one work? Campers will build a computer from scratch. They will start with a bare motherboard and add memory, sound and video cards, a modem and drives. After the system is built they will partition the drive and install the operating system. This course is a must for the budding techie! NetworkingToday it is not uncommon for a home to have two or more computers, but it's rare that they each have printers and separate internet access. This results in copying files onto a floppy and using the "sneaker net" to carry them to the computer that has the printer, or having to wait to use the net until another family member is finished. Solution: networking! Since the introduction of Windows 95 it has become easier to network computers. In this class, your young techie will explore several options on how to network computers. This is a hands on course and not for the casual user. Introduction to JavaScriptUnlike its "big brother" Java, JavaScript does not require a compiler, it is an interpreted language. The interpreter is your Web browser. This course will introduce the student to the basics of making a web site interactive. If you have a word processor you have all the tools necessary to begin exploring this powerful programming tool. The course will be project oriented, so that the student will learn and implement at the same time. If you want to add intelligence to your web site this is the course for you. |
